Treasure hunt for charity

The Royal LePage Northstar Realty office in South Surrey will join other locations across Canada in being transformed into an oasis for bargain hunters next month during the National Garage Sale for Shelter.

The May 14 event – held in support of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation – is to bring local residents together with Royal LePage real estate agents to raise funds and awareness to help break the cycle of violence in their communities.

The local fundraiser is to be held in the parking lot of 15272 Croydon Dr. from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

All proceeds are to support Surrey and White Rock women’s shelters and fund long-term solutions to end family violence.

More than $435,000 was raised last year, and Peninsula residents are encouraged to take part again by donating gently used items to the Croydon Drive branch, as well as the 13301 72 Ave. office.
