Grand opening
A new ice cream parlour on East Beach, Moo Moo’s, had its grand opening July 22 and White Rock Mayor Catherine Ferguson and Coun. Helen Fathers (with daughter Ellie) stopped by to congratulate owners Shafique Saleemi and Shahin Anwar and sample a batch of a unique flavour – White Rock Chewy Chocolate – specially created for the occasion.
Moo Moo’s, which will specialize in both ice cream and frozen yogurt treats, is the latest venture for Saleemi and Anwar, who have been proprietors for two years of the popular maritime-themed Fish Boat fish and chips restaurant, seven doors down the street.
Saleemi said the pair look forward to operating both businesses side by side, and have hand-picked student staffers to assist them in the stores.
“A young person’s first working experience is very important, and if it’s a good experience it will stay with them throughout their working lives,” he said.
