The White Rock Elks Lodge #431 raised more than $200, in addition to food donations, to support children’s charities on the Semiahmoo Peninsula.

Earlier this month, the Elks set up a display table at Wal-Mart in South Surrey with information about the charities the organization supports, including the White Rock Youth Ambassadors, Peace Arch Hospital, BC Hearing Resource Centre and the BC Elks Children’s Camp Society.

Because of contributions from both Wal-Mart and its customers, the Elks were able to raise more than $100 for their charity fund and food to donate to the Sources Food Bank.

The money donated was equally matched by Wal-Mart.

Every year, more than 4,000 children enjoy time at one of the four Elks camps in B.C. The camps are available year-round and include locations near Prince George and in Aldergrove Regional Park.
