Kwantlen alumni honoured

A Peninsula chartered accountant was among two Kwantlen Polytechnic University alumni honoured this month for outstanding career, public and community service achievements.

Shane King, a partner at KNV Chartered Accountants LLP, was presented with the 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award in the Business and Industry category at the university's 30th anniversary gala, held March 2 at the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond.

King and Tsawwassen First Nation Chief Kim Baird – who was recognized in the Community and Public Service category – were chosen to receive the awards from among dozens of nominees.

King was recognized for outstanding achievements in his profession and for giving back to both the business and Kwantlen communities. Baird was honoured for her work and leadership in the First Nation community and for setting a sustainability standard for other First Nation communities provincially and nationally.
