Local book store expands locations to Vancouver
South Surrey-based Black Bond Books has bought the flagship West Broadway location of Vancouver book discounter Book Warehouse.
The store will reopen June 1, after several days refurbishment, joining the chain of 11 Black Bond locations in the Lower Mainland owned by Cathy and Mel Jesson, including South Surrey stores in Semiahmoo Centre and on 24 Ave.
Book Warehouse CEO Sharman King announced in March he would be closing his chain’s four stores as leases expired, in advance of his retirement on May 26.
Black Bond’s plans are to do only minor renovations to the store, at 632 West Broadway – a Vancouver icon for some 32 years – and it will retain the Book Warehouse name.
