Hard work recognized
A White Rock woman was recently honoured for more than 25 years of ‘revolutionary’ work devoted to hearing loss in youth and infants.
Susan Lane received a 2013 B.C. Community Achievement Award during a ceremony in Victoria March 14 acknowledging her work in the field of hearing loss.
A speech-language pathologist and audiologist, Lane helped to introduce services and facilities aimed at language development for children across the province through her work with the B.C. Family Hearing Resource Society.
Lane is now the provincial intervention co-ordinator with the B.C. Early Hearing Program, which screens every newborn for hearing in the hours and days after birth.
