Chamber eyes top honour
And then there were three.
The Surrey Board of Trade joins the Regina Chamber of Commerce and Mississauga Board of Trade on the shortlist as top chamber in Canada.
The three have been selected from 450 business groups across the country because of projects that address the “skills gap,” which is said to be a leading barrier to competitiveness for Canadian businesses.
Surrey’s project is HR Solutions for Immigrant Talent Initiative, in partnership with Douglas College and PEER’s Employment & Education Resources. The employer-focused program assists small- and medium-sized businesses to integrate immigrants into their labour pool.
The winner will be announced after projects are presented in front of 1,000 national chamber and board of trade delegates at the annual Canadian Chamber of Commerce Conference in Kelowna on Sept. 28-30.
