Quake a reminder to be prepared
With the Sept. 9, 6.4-magnitude earthquake off the west coast of Vancouver Island in mind, organizers of the upcoming Great British Columbia ShakeOut are urging residents to do their part to get prepared.
Touted as the largest Canadian earthquake drill, ShakeOut is set for 10:20 a.m. this morning (Thursday).
More than 110,000 B.C. residents have already signed up, organizers say, and they will be joining others in the U.S., Guam and New Zealand.
The drill is an opportunity to practice the Drop, Cover and Hold-on technique, and a reminder to review emergency plans and supplies.
