Food drive aims for healthy donations
The Peace Arch Monarch Lions are holding their fourth annual “Healthy Choices” food drive next weekend in support of the White Rock-South Surrey Food bank.
The service club will be accepting donations of non-perishable, preferably healthy, donations Oct 29-30, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., at the Wal-Mart Supercentre in South Surrey.
Among the suggested donations for the food drive are canned tuna, chicken and salmon; peanut butter, brown rice, whole-grain pasta, 100 per cent natural fruit juice, canned vegetables and milk powder.
In addition to food, the Lions will also be accepting donations of used eyeglasses and hearing aids, which will be sent to Third World countries to help children and adults with medical needs.
