Exploring faiths

A program hoped to foster community connections through sharing different faith and cultural traditions starts Nov. 2 at Crescent United Church in South Surrey.

Telling Our Stories is an opportunity to learn and ask questions about Sikh, Muslim, First Nations and Jewish faiths, said Kathy Booth.

Nov. 2, the series will explore how different faith communities welcome a new life and honour children; Nov. 9, the focus will be on how faiths are practised in the home and influence day-to-day life. On Nov. 16, participants will discuss how members of different faith communities worship and connect with one another; festivals will be the focus Nov. 23.

Booth said guest speakers will include a native elder, who will speak about the medicine wheel ceremony, and a Muslim woman.

All of the sessions are to take place from 7-8:30 p.m. at the church, 2756 127 St. For more information, visit www.crescentunitedchurch.com, email crescentuc@telus.ca or call 604-535-1166.
