Bargain books for a good cause
The Rotary Club of White Rock is preparing for its 31st Anniversary Big Book Sale, slated to kick off March 3-10.
The week-long sale will be held at Semiahmoo Shopping Centre (1701 152 St.) and will benefit local and international initiatives the club supports, including Polio Plus – which works to eradicate polio around the world – and earthquake relief for Haiti, as well as other community projects.
There will be a variety of books available for purchase, including children’s books, which have been donated throughout the year by the public, generally selling at three for $5.
As well, book sale organizers note there are often valuable old editions to be found on the tables.
Last year, the White Rock club celebrated its 30th annual book sale. According to the Rotary’s website, more than $1,000,000 has been raised over three decades of charitable book sales.
Any Rotary members available to volunteer for this year’s book sale can register to do so online.
