SURREY — Get a photo with a Mountie in Red Serge, listen in to police briefings for kids, or check out an Air 1 helicopter at the Surrey RCMP’s annual open house this year.

The family-friendly event, set for May 13, will kick off Police Week.

“Get to know your local Mounties and get a behind-the-scenes look at our operations,” said Surrey RCMP Corporal Scotty Schumann in a release.

“Police Week provides an opportunity to open our doors to the public who will be able to learn more about our programs, specialized services, and ask any burning questions they’ve always wanted answered about policing.”

The Emergency Response Team and Explosives Disposal Unit will also be at the event. And police promise popcorn, cotton candy and pizza.

Parking will be limited, police warn.

The event is set for Saturday, May 13 at Surrey RCMP’s main detachment, located at14355 57th Ave., from noon to 3 p.m.
