The Kent Street coffee shop is one of the best-kept secrets in White Rock.

Drop in for some delicious homemade cuisine including soup and sandwiches, fresh-baked goodies and hot lunch specials between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

If you don’t feel like cooking tonight or simply don’t enjoy cooking for one, drop into the kitchen and pick up a nutritious, frozen dinner for only $6. The size of the meal is perfect for one person to enjoy for a couple of meals, or two people to share.

Kent Street Activity Centre invites all cribbage and bid whist players every Thursday from 1-3:15 p.m. in the auditorium.

Newcomers are welcome to a three-visit guest pass before purchasing a White Rock Recreation and Culture membership.

This friendly, social group welcomes new players each week, so don’t be shy drop on by and check us out!

Fresh & Lively Luncheons are ending this month and will resume in September.

Enjoy delicious food with new friends and fantastic entertainment.

The next luncheon is June 8 and transportation is available to help those who are unable to make it to the Kent Street Activity Centre on their own.

On Friday, July 27, take the White Rock Recreation & Culture mini bus to Malkin Bowl outdoor theatre for the magical performance of Cinderella.

Enjoy this Tony Award-winning musical in the beautiful surroundings of Stanley Park.

On Saturday, June 16 enjoy a peaceful and restorative day in mindfulness.

From 9:30 a.m. to noon, practise various mindfulness meditations, such as sitting, lying down, walking and qigong. Discover and experience the liberating power of mindfulness.

From 12:15-1:30 p.m., sign up for Mindful Eating: Power over Food. Mindful eating helps to reduce overeating, lose weight, overcome emotional eating and struggling with food. It is among the easiest and most enjoyable mindfulness practices.

Come try it with our instructor Sung Yang and find out how your eating habits will never be the same.

Kent Street Centre Wednesday night dances will be winding up this month, so be sure to check us out before the summer break.

Singles and couples aged 50 plus are welcome.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with dancing from 7-10. Refreshments served midway.
