SENIORS’ SCENE: It’s time to start planning the season ahead

It is almost time for the Kent Street Activity Centre’s annual general meeting, this Monday, Nov. 27 at 2:30 p.m.

Find out was has been happening at the centre over the past year, meet your executive, enjoy refreshments and, to add to this fun afternoon, there will be a special presentation from Dr. Laugh, an internationally renowned speaker on humour and laughter.

No pre-registration required, just drop in and show your support.

White Rock Recreation and Culture members can register Friday, Nov. 24, beginning at 8:30 a.m.; online opens at 7 a.m.

Non-members register Wednesday Nov. 29 beginning at 8:30 a.m.; online opens at 7 a.m.

Boomer Fit is the perfect blend of aerobics, strength training and stretching.

Class includes a warmup, building up to 30 minutes of intermediate-level cardio. Lightweights and resistance bands are used for toning, floor work, cool down and a relaxing stretch.

Drop in to this fun class Thursday, 4-5 p.m. at the Kent Street Activity Centre.

Local lawyer Al Benson will be at the Kent Street Activity Centre to help low income seniors 65+ with legal queries and problems on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 9:30 a.m.

Every Friday afternoon from 1-3 p.m., you are welcome to join Kent Street Activity Centre’s Stitch & Chat group and work on your own needlecraft, knitting or quilting project in the company of others.

This is a great opportunity to socialize and share ideas.

Pick up a guest pass at the front office and try out this activity group or one of many others at the centre before becoming a White Rock Recreation and Culture member.

Encore Peninsula Concerts presents Concertos Extravaganza Sunday, Nov. 26, 3 p.m. at the White Rock First United Church.

A gala concert of young piano talents from the Vancouver International School of Music White Rock. Music by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Chopin.

The Kent Street dance committee welcomes you to their Wednesday night dance.

Each night a different band is featured playing live music for social dancing. Singles and couples aged 50-plus are welcome.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with dancing from 7-10 p.m. Refreshments served midway.

This week’s featured band is the Quartette.
