CBC host to MC school jazz event

Semiahmoo Arts presents the third annual South End Summit, Saturday, Jan. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Earl Marriott Secondary’s Wheelhouse Theatre.

As in the past two years, the South End Summit promises an evening of great big band-style music featuring outstanding performances by the senior jazz bands of Elgin Park, Semiahmoo, and Earl Marriott secondary schools.

Also featured will be special guest artist Vince Mai, a dynamic Vancouver-based trumpet soloist who is well-known as a member of various Canadian jazz and funk groups. In a long career, Mai has shared the stage and studio with artists including Tom Jones, David Foster, The Temptations, and Natalie Cole.

Guest MC will be Margaret Gallagher, award-winning host of CBC Radio One’s Hot Air, CBC’s longest running radio program.

Tickets are $20.00 ($15.00 for students and seniors) and are available through Tapestry Music and Semiahmoo Arts (604-536-8333).
