Surrey teen bands in top 10

Two Surrey groups are in the top 10 of Youthink magazine’s BC’s Best Teen Band Contest.

Collect Call, an indie rock band, and Northern Rain, an alt-rock group, made the cut when judges announced last week they’d narrowed down the pool of more than 40 entrants, which ranged from country to funk to metal bands.

Judges were Shaun Verreault, lead singer of Wide Mouth Mason, Knuckleduster Music Inc. owner Georges Couling, and Scott Johnson, Western Region Manager for Warner Music Canada.

Now the fate of the finalists is in the hands of music fans, who can vote for their favourites at youthink.ca/bandcontest2013.

The three bands with the most votes will compete live at the Electric Owl in Vancouver on April 27, with the top group winning a recording session with Jay Evjen of Juicemix Productions at Greenhouse Studios, $2,000 cash for artistic development, and a spot on the cover of the May/June edition of Youthink magazine.
