UPDATE: Man in custody after stabbing at North Delta Walmart

A loss prevention officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries trying to catch a shoplifter

A man is in jail after allegedly stabbing a Walmart loss prevention officer in North Delta Saturday afternoon.

Delta Police were called to Scottsdale Centre at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 after a loss prevention officer was apparently stabbed while trying to apprehend an alleged shoplifter.

Accordign ot a DPD press release, the suspect fled south on foot, but within minutes police were on scene and deploying a K-9 unit. Patrol officers then observed a male loosely matching the description of the suspect in the 6900-block of 120th Street. The officers approached the man and took him into custody without incident.

The victim, meanwhile, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, a male in his 20s of no fixed address, remains in custody. Police are recommending charges including robbery and breach of conditions.
