Joint operation
A 21-year-old Surrey man received a 24-hour driving suspension and had his vehicle impounded this month after police found marijuana in a car at Elgin Heritage Park.
Surrey RCMP said Friday officers in the area (13700-block Crescent Road) around 4:45 p.m. Dec. 7 handed out the penalties after checking on a black BMW in the park’s parking lot.
According to a police report, officers noticed a man and woman in the car, and that it looked like they were doing something with their hands. As the driver passed his licence out the car window, an “overpowering” odour of marijuana was noted.
A police dog found fragments of the drug in the car, police say.
Both occupants were detained. The passenger, a 23-year-old Surrey woman, was not ticketed
