Man shot in Whalley
A Surrey man is in critical condition after being shot in North Surrey early Thursday morning.
Police were called to a fight outside the Front Room Drop in Centre at 10667 135A St. at about 12:30 a.m. RCMP believe the altercation may have started in the parking lot of the Whalley legion, which had closed at 7 p.m.
When police arrived to find a 31-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to hospital where he remains in life-threatening condition.
Police believe that the incident was targeted and not gang-related, but more will be known as the investigation continues.
The victim is known for drug offenses and property crime both in Surrey and Vancouver.
Police are looking for a dark-coloured sports car observed leaving the area at a high speed. Anyone who may have witnessed anything related to this incident is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
