32 Avenue traffic rerouted following crash
A single-vehicle crash on 32 Avenue Friday knocked down hydro wires and clogged traffic along neighbouring thoroughfares for at least two hours while crews worked to restore the lines.
And while investigation into exactly how the afternoon crash occurred is ongoing, police say two men in the car that hit the power pole escaped with only minor injuries.
Cpl. Bert Paquet said Surrey firefighters asked for police assistance at the crash scene – in the 15400-block of 32 Avenue – just before 2 p.m. Oct. 5, after a 2004 two-door BMW struck a hydro pole on the north side of the road.
The two BMW occupants were taken to hospital. The driver, a 31-year-old Surrey man, was treated for a minor shoulder injury. A police report does not note the 28-year-old passenger's injuries, however, both men were released from hospital the same day.
The black BMW suffered extensive front-end damage, the road was closed in both directions due to the safety hazard from the wires.
Paquet said there is no indication that drugs or alcohol factored into the crash.
Investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information may call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
