A mother of three who traded business for crime-fighting is the new face of White Rock RCMP.

Const. Shaileshni Molison stepped into the role of media liaison for the Pacific Avenue detachment last month.

She replaces Const. Janelle Shoihet, who started with the Mounties’ Serious and Organized Crime Unit in October after seven years in White Rock.

Molison, 41, has been at the detachment since July 2012, after transferring from Burnaby.

The South Surrey resident has eight years of policing under her belt, and is currently a member of the city’s plainclothes investigative team.

Molison describes herself as the kind of person who has to “know everything,” and so particularly enjoys the ability her plainclothes position gives her to delve more deeply into files.

Conducting interrogations is another of her favourite aspects of the job.

Familiar White Rock files Molison has worked on include a home invasion last April that led police to approximately 8,000 marijuana-laced cookies, and the January seizure of a cache of chemicals from a White Rock apartment building.

“Every day is different, every day is unique – and it’s a lot of fun,” she said.
