UPDATE: Women found dead in Surrey home identified

Two woman have been found dead inside a home in north Surrey, have now been identified.

Kathleen Maximuik, 61, and her mother Anne Shouchuk, 81, were found dead in their 13600-block 111A Avenue home at about 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 1.

Police say the pair are mother and daughter.

Danica Baldwin, 15, lives two doors away and knew the pair of women.

"They'd come out once in a while when I delivered the paper," Baldwin said. "They were really friendly. They were really nice ladies."

Baldwin thought they were on vacation, because she hadn't seen them in a few weeks.

She said a man came to the home on Thursday night and knocked on the door. She believes he was a relative, perhaps a son.

Police also say a relative found the pair of women and called the police.

Area residents describe the neighbourhood as extremely quiet, and a great place to raise a family.

Baldwin said it's frightening to have a killing so close to home.

"It's scary, I live right here," she said.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the investigation and autopsies are being requested to assist in the investigation.

“We are in the very early stages of this investigation and we are working to establish what happened inside the residence. We do not believe there’s a third party involved and we are yet to determine if foul play is a factor,” said Cpl. Dominic Duchesneau.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the IHIT tipline at 1-877-551-4448 or email ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca
