Police are recommending charges against two young people after a robbery at a mobile phone store this week.

On Tuesday at just before 6 p.m., Mounties received a call of a robbery at the store in the 18600-block of Fraser Highway.

Two suspects entered the store and forced the clerk into the back room before making off with merchandise and money.

During the course of the robbery, the clerk got into a scrap with one of the suspects and received minor slash wounds to his arm. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Witness information allowed police to track the suspect vehicle to the 14200-block of 64 Avenue.

Officers stopped the car and arrested two suspects without incident.

Charges of robbery and assault with a weapon are being recommended against the two suspects, aged 20 and 16, from Surrey.

Police warn that confronting a suspect during a robbery is ill-advised. In this instance the victim ended up with knife injuries. While they were not life-threatening, it could have been a lot worse, police say.
