SFN tests tsunami siren

White Rock residents were surprised to hear tsunami warnings ring out along the waterfront Thursday morning. The alerts were a test being conducted by the Semiahmoo First Nation.

Semiahmoo First Nation began testing its Mass Notification Siren (tsunami siren) Thursday morning.

As a requirement of the new program, SFN conducted the mass evacuation drill at 11 a.m.

Tests will continue to take place on the first Monday of each month at 12 p.m.
