SURREY — Two women were taken to hospital to be treated for soft tissue injuries following a spectacular crash between a Nissan Versa and a van in the 7800-block of King George Boulevard just after 11 a.m. Thursday.

The roadway was closed until 2:30 p.m. as RCMP investigated the scene. A police spokesman said investigators were suprised the injuries weren’t more serious.

A witness at the scene says a Nissan was T-boned by a van, causing the car to to slam into a pole, leaving two people trapped inside.

Two Jaws of Life tools were used to remove the roof of the car, according to the witness.
