Sixteen Surrey officers and five from White Rock were among 134 Lower Mainland police recognized Wednesday at Southridge School for their efforts to get impaired drivers off the road.

The induction onto Alexa's Team – formed in 2008 – "celebrates those that act and do," said Laurel Middelaer, Alexa's mother.

The gregarious youngster died six years ago after she was struck by a drunk driver.
