After being family-owned and operated for the past 32 years, the owners of Timberland Motel & Campground (3418 King George Blvd.) have decided it’s time to sell.

Stephanie Taggart – daughter of William Bray, who purchased the business in 1985 – told Peace Arch News Friday that the family is in the process of selling the property to Zenterra Developments.

“It’s been an ongoing decision for a while,” Taggart said, adding that Zenterra will develop the property into townhouses.

Trailer park residents were given notice before Christmas that the park would close in spring of 2018.

She said there have been “no issues at all,” from people who occupy the 80 sites. She said most long-term residents have already moved out.

Taggart said she’s collected many stories over years, and that she’s seen and heard “just about everything.”

“Many people have sat there pleading their forgiveness or their life, money, all sorts of stuff,” Taggart said, referring to the chair across from her desk in the front office.

The 15,664-sq.-metre property has served as a campground since 1953.
