TINGLE, Robert Leigh.

Bob died peacefully at the age of 93 at Peace Arch District Hospital on May 14, 2006.

He was born on a homestead in Hanna, Alberta, December 13, 1912 to Cyril Nisbet Tingle and Beryl Broughton (McDermot), formerly of Jamaica.

After farming in the Chilliwack area until 1945, Bob moved to White Rock where he remained a resident for 61 years.

He operated a grocery store on Marine Drive from 1945 to 1971, first with his father as C.N. Tingle & Son, and then as Tingle's Red & White Market.

Active in the community, he was a 50-year member of the Rotary Club of White Rock, an enthusiastic member of the White Rock Lawn Bowling Club and until the age of 87 curled weekly with the Peace Arch Curling Club.

Bob was predeceased by his wife Emily, brothers Cyril (known as Pete), Aubrey, and Oliver, and sisters Elma and Eleanor, and survived by his son and his wife, Jim and Roma of Prince George and his daughter and her husband, Edie and Paul Rasmussen of Vancouver, grandson Leigh and his partner Cherryl Williams and grandson Evan, and three generations of nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Anglican Church of the Holy Trinity, 15115 Roper Avenue, at 2 pm on Tuesday, May 23rd with a reception to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Holy Trinity.
