PETERSON, Charlotte Ursula

Our beloved mother Charlotte (Lottie) Ursula Peterson was born in Winnipeg on October 21, 1919 and passed away April 26, 2007. Predeceased by her parents Joseph Orlinski and Maria Laskowska, her husband Joseph Peterson, and her three brothers Casimir, Ted and Ben, she leaves behind her loving children Dan (Lynda), Lorne (Susan), Valerie (Keith), Brenda (Basil), and Greg (Dee); her grandchildren Jason (Candy), Aaron (Barb), Ryan, Kevin, Julian, and Sebastian; and her great grandchildren Rheanna, Mykel, Sara, Joel, and Ashley. Mom grew up in Winnipeg and after her marriage in 1940, she lived in many different cities including Edmonton, Calgary, West Vancouver, Tsawwassen, White Rock and in her last five years Maillardville. Calling herself a woman of action and described in her high school yearbook as "a rollicking ray of sunshine", she was fun-loving, adventurous, resourceful and exuberantly determined. She was passionate about her family, friends, religion, and classical music: she taught piano for over forty years. She enjoyed many activities including tennis, dancing, jogging, golf, bridge, cribbage, bingo, and watching hockey. She possessed a wonderful sense of humour and was always the life of the party. We will remember forever her witticisms, affectionate teasing, and love of life. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the caring staff at Foyer Maillard, especially Father Charles, and the staff at the Royal Columbian Hospital and McKenney Creek Hospice. On Tuesday, May 1st at 7:00pm evening prayers were offered at Columbia Bowell Funeral Chapel in New Westminster. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 2nd at 1:30pm at Star of the Sea Catholic Church in White Rock followed by a burial service at Gardens of Gethsemani in Surrey. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the BC Cancer Society or Foyer Maillard.
