Winnie, born in Vancouver but a long time resident of Hazelmere Valley passed away peacefully in White Rock. She was the beloved daughter of Archibald Campbell Cowan and Margaret Florence Cowan (nee Ward), beloved wife of Ernest George (deceased), loving mother of Robert George(Carol), Pat McNair(Archie) Susan Rehnby and David Campbell, loving grandmother of Kirsten Rehnby (Richard Martin), Cathy McNair (Michael Roze), Maret Rehnby (Jason Maynes), Jeff McNair (Anita), Elise Nowak (Brad) and loving great grandmother of Alexandre and Daphne Rehnby-Martin, Delaney McNair, Elijah, Nigel and Trajan Nowak and Astrid Maynes. Winnie was predeceased by later husbands Finley Campbell and John Watson. Winnie was an intelligent, generous and hard working woman who raised not only her own children but for many years cared for babies ,youngsters and teenagers through the Children’s Aid Society. When the family was almost raised she discovered Reno and the one armed bandits which she, husband Fin and her dear friend Florence visited as often as possible. Winnie was one of the original environmentalists. She grew her own vegetables and fruit, raised animals for meat, recycled and composted. She was a great fan of Mother Nature. Her family, home, garden and animals were what she loved best. While we are saddened by her passing we know that she had a rich and active life. Our mother’s wish for a simple service was respected with a Graveside Ceremony at Ocean View and a private Celebration of Life at Hazelmere Golf and Country Club. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Weatherby 3 for their consideration and kindness.
