Johnston, Doris Evelyn (nee McRorie) It is with deepest sorrow that the family of Doris Johnston announces her passing on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at Shepherd's Care Residence in Edmonton, Alberta at age 93. Doris was born in Avonlea, Saskatchewan on October 22, 1911. Her husband Nelson predeceased her in 1978.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Shirley (Roger) Erickson, son Bob (Beverley), grandchildren Catherine

(Jim) Armstrong, Bill (Michelle) Erickson, Liz (Tim) Loewen, Sheila (Eric) Langevin, and great grandchildren Brent Erickson, Adam and March Langevin, Katheryn and David Loewen. She will also be missed by her sisters, Inez and Kay and brothers, Ken and Eric and by many nieces, nephews and many friends.

Doris loved life to the fullest with remarkable zest and energy. Over the years, she traveled extensively, was an accomplished oil painter, enjoyed curling and golf. Learning computer skills at age 86 she wrote a compilation of stories based on her family. She was an active and supportive member of many United Church Parishes in Saskatchewan (especially Shellbrook), Edmonton (Knox Met) and in White Rock, B.C. Her home and her heart were always open to any and all and her warm hospitality was generously shared in the many communities in which she lived in Saskatchewan, in Edmonton and in White Rock, B.C.

The family would like to thank the staff at Shepherd's Care in Millwoods for their compassionate care. A Memorial service and reception is scheduled for Saturday, February 19th at 10:00 am at Hainstock's Funeral Chapel, 9810 -34th Avenue, Edmonton. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
