Doris May Southerby

Born July 19, 1906 passed away peacefully at Weatherby Unit, Peace Arch Hospital on April 21, 2004 with her eldest son by her side. Predeceased by husband John (1966).

She is lovingly remembered by her sons Lou (Carol) of White Rock, Norman (Evelyn) of California. Grandchildren Paul & Sarah, their mother Charm of California, Kevin of Cloverdale and 6 great grandchildren.

Doris was born in England and came to Canada as a young bride. She lived in Windsor Ontario until the death of her husband John. She was very active in her church and played piano & sang with the Mattinee Musical. In 1969 she moved to White Rock to be closer to her son & his family. She worked as a nurse companion to a number of elderly people and continued to do so until she retired at the age of 75. Doris spent the last 5 years of her life at Evergreen Baptist home in White Rock. The family extends special thanks to all the staff at Evergreen who’s kindness and compassion is deeply appreciated. Thank you as well to the staff at Weatherby 2 for the good care during her brief stay there. Family service was held at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, White Rock on Sunday May 9, 2004. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to Peace Arch Hospital Foundation or White Rock Hospice Society.
