Hayes, Dorothy Ruth
(October 28, 1910 - July 28, 2017)
Dorothy departed peacefully on July 28,
2017 at the age of 106. Born in Dauphin,
Manitoba, she was the eldest daughter
of Thomas Walker Hayes and Mary Edna
Jackson. She was predeceased by her
sister Eileen Prest on Dec. 30, 2010 and
brother-in- law, Haig on Dec. 29, 2001.
She is survived by her nephews Alan
and Ian Prest, her niece Nancy Barnes
and their children and grandchildren.
Dorothy valued many lifelong friendships
she made through church, community
and her travels. She was an active and devoted member of St. John’s
Presbyterian church. Music was a passion and she was a beloved
member of Sweet Adelines for many years.
A lady of integrity and grace and an inspiration, her life touched many
and she will be cherished for her generous spirit, kindness and humour.
Heartfelt thanks to the compassionate caregivers at Evergreen Baptist
Campus of Care. Cremation has taken place.
A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be announced at a later date.
