PARTRIDGE - Dorothy (nee: Bennett)

Jan. 15th, 1910 - Oct. 15th, 2009

Dorothy passed away peacefully at Vancouver General Hospital, the evening of Thursday October 15th, with her son, Alan, at her bedside. After a life nearly one hundred years long, Dorothy was many things to many people - wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and treasured friend. Born and raised in Sheffield, England, eventually emigrating to Canada, Dorothy traveled widely, but felt most at home here in the Lower Mainland, living for many years in White Rock with her husband Charlie, before moving to Vancouver five years ago where she lived with Alan. Strong, curious, and independent, Dorothy was the first to strike up a conversation in any situation, and always enjoyed a good laugh. She took up painting in her sixties and spent many happy hours with the White Rock Painting Club. Dorothy always managed to look on the bright side of life, and her warmth and empathy endeared her to all who knew her over the years. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Charles in 1997, and is survived by sons Reg and Alan, daughter Pat, grand children Kevin, Stephen (Janet), Janet (Christine), Karen (Darcy), Ron and Susan, and great-grandchildren Amy, Bethany, Ryan, Erik, Kristoffer, Boedicea, Beau and Luc. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. The family would like to thank the caring and supportive staff of Bayshore Home Support, especially Virginia, Maria, Jeannette and Sean, for all their help over the past few years. A memorial service will be held at First United Church, 15385

Semiahmoo Avenue, White Rock, on Saturday November 7th at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations to First United Church, White Rock, or a charity of your choice, would be much appreciated in Dorothy's memory.
