Douglas COWLEY

COWLEY, Douglas passed away at the age of 84 in White Rock, BC, on June 15th, 2005. He is survived by Helen, his loving wife of 65 years and their eight children, 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, as well as one brother and 6 sisters. Douglas joined the Canadian Army in September 1939 and was sent overseas where he was severely wounded in action with the Black Watch Regiment on October 29th, 1944 during the battle for the Scheldt Estuary in Holland. Despite permanent injuries, his indomitable spirit prevailed and he went on to a successful career in bookkeeping and office management. He emigrated to California in 1958 and worked in the real estate field. He continued his real estate career in Washington State before retiring to British Columbia. He was a member of the Surrey Golden Rods & Reels. Douglas was devoted to his family and loved fishing, an activity they often shared. He will be sorely missed.
