Dr. Robert Hogg

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dr. R.J.A. Hogg.

he died as he lived, with all his family close and him choosing his time.

Born on February 1, 1914 in Lorlie, Saskatchewan. He was raised there until moving to Bruce County, Ontario during the Depression to help with the family farm. He returned to the University of Western Ontario Medical School, graduating in 1942. He served as a physician in the RCAF, where he met his loving wife Kathleen in Pat Bay, Victoria. They were married on June 20th, 1945, moving to White Rock the following year, the community to which he passionately dedicated his life.

As one of the first physicians in the area he drove daily to Royal Columbia Hospital while lobbying for the building of the original White Rock Hospital. His time was also spent as a member of several community organizations including Rotary, Kinsmen, Shriners and Masons.

He also chaired the committee for the building of the First United Church in its present location. He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen and his children Gordon (LaVerne) , Joan (Bill), Linda (David), John (Tracy) and his grandchildren James, Blair, Robert, Katy, Alessandra, Allan, And Jackson.

A service was held at First United Church, 15385 Semiahmoo Avenue, at 2 pm, on Friday, January 7th, 2005.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Peace Arch Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. The family extends their sincere thanks to the wonderful residents and staff of the Finlay Pavilion, Peace Arch District Hospital.
