Lt. Col. (Ret.) Edward James Grant,

On Sept 8, 2008, James (Jim) Grant of Surrey, B.C. passed away among family at the age of 79 years after a brave struggle with Cancer. Jim was born on March 26, 1929 in Sexmith Alta. Jim is survived by his wife of 34 years, Beatrice Grant; his children: Ian (Susan), Susan, Gordon (Julie), Margaret (Ian), Kelly, Scott (Hayley) and Dale; his grandchildren: Lee-Anne, Jessica, Grant, Bradley, Amanda, Sean, Brenden, Taylor and Brooklyn, and his great grand-daughter Olivia born on June 14th. 2008 and great-grandson Blake on August 25th. 2008; and brothers John and Dennis. Jim was predeceased by his father, Edward James (1960), his mother Florence Lucy (1995), his wife Merna (1972), and his sister Kathleen (1997).

Jim graduated from UBC with a BSC in Pharmacy in 1952 and enjoyed a distinguished career in the Canadian military from his enlistment in the Canadian Army Reserve in 1945 through his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps (Air Command) at Allied Forces Central Europe Nato Headquarters (AFCENT), Brunssum Netherlands.

Jim will be remembered for the love he shared with his family. His positive cheerful attitude in life has been a great source of strength to his family. Throughout his military career he was respected for his leadership, opinion and wise counsel.

Family and friends are invited to attend a service on Saturday September 13th at 10:30 at the First United Church 15385 Semiahmoo Avenue, White Rock, V4B-5L3. This will be followed by an internment at Victory Memorial Park at 14831-28th Ave., Surrey, B.C.
