Esther Rauch passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at White Rock, BC. She was born on April 19, 1924 in Waskatenau, Alberta. During World War II, she lived in Vancouver, BC, with the Black family on Marine Drive and worked in a plywood factory. She married Harold Rauch on July 27, 1946 in Vancouver, BC. They operated a butcher shop and grocery store until 1950 when they moved to Leader, Saskatchewan. In Leader, they operated a farm and a locker plant/meat market with brothers-in-law John and Fred Rauch. In 1971, they retired to White Rock, BC. Esther is survived by sons Ken (Pat), Ron (Audrey), grandchildren Jason, Lisa and Kelly Rauch and greatgrandchildren Cheryl, Joshua, Keegan and Noah Rauch, brother Gary (Winnie) Hein, sisters-in-law Eva Hein, Edith Graham, Elsie (Mac) McRobert, Violet Locke, Ruby (Henry) Fedoruk, Rose Rauch, Irma Rauch, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She is predeceased by husband, Harold Rauch, and family members, Ruth (Dave) Plain, Ada (Henry) Andreasen, Martin (Emily) Hein, Emmanuel Hein, Walther Hein, Luis (Lil) Hein, Erwin (Peggy) Hein, Betty (Bill) Olson, Laura (Phil) Lucier, John Rauch, Fred Rauch, Bill Graham, and Walter Locke.


A memorial reception to celebrate the life of Esther Rauch will be held Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at First Memorial Fraser Heights Funeral Home in Surrey, BC. Donations in Esther's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
