FRIC, GEORGE

October 25, 1944 - September 11, 2008

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of George Fric on Thursday, September 11th, 2008 after a short and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Flin Flon, Manitoba, George grew up in a tight knit family of 5 brothers and 3 sisters. At a young age, he developed a strong sense of family values and community spirit.

George graduated from the University of North Dakota and the University of Manitoba where he went on to work as an Educator in the Pas, Manitoba. In 1981, George moved to White Rock and was an active member of the business community where he operated the White Rock Gulf and North Bluff Auto Service Stations.

For the past 27 years, George has made countless social and spiritual contributions to the community as a member of the Star of the Sea Catholic Parish, The Knights of Columbus and the White Rock Rotary Club. In these endeavors he will be most remembered for his thoughtfulness, generosity, endless wit and ability to "make things happen". George was truly passionate about his family, golf, competition of all sorts, gardening, and tinkering with projects around the home.

George will be forever missed by his loving wife, Janet, daughters Jennifer (husband Chris), Sara (husband Steven, daughter Amelia), Anna (husband Jason), and Teresa, as well as many extended family members and friends.

Prayer services will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 8 p.m. and funeral services on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 11 a.m. - both at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

The family wishes to extend its thanks to Dr. Derrick Lowe, Dr. Gerry Roberts, the Fraser Valley Cancer Center, the Palliative Care Unit at Peace Arch Hospital and all who shared their kindness and best wishes.
