Born October 31, 1914 in New Westminster, died peacefully November 4, 2004 in 100 Mile General District Hospital.

He will be remembered with great fondness by his step-daughter Diane Wilson.

George was predecesased by his first wife Helen and brothers Fred and Bill.

George graduated with an honours degree in history from UBC in 1935. He started his long career in education as a teacher in Haney, where he met his first wife Helen Leggatt.

He taught in Ocean Falls, then in 1947 became principal of the Hope school. In 1955, he became a school inspector in the North Peace school district, where he oversaw schools from Fort St. John to Atlin, to Telegraph Creek.

As a school superintendent his career later took him to Quesnel, Salmon Arm, Coquitlam and Penticton where he retired in 1975.

As a teacher and school administrator George's intelligence and personal warmth touched thousands of people.

George was a cultured person who deeply loved classical music, especially that written for the violin.

He quoted long passages of poetry and took great delight in the well written word. A great story teller, he could keep his audience attentive even during long pauses. His disarming grin charmed everyone.

He will be missed by all his family and friends.

A special thanks to the caregivers of 100 Mile District Hospital.
