Gertrude “Trudie” Evelyn Munro

1918 – 2008


Passed away peacefully with family at her side on December 5, 2008 at the age of 90 years. Predeceased by her loving husband Robert Munro (1982). She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughter Donna Welsh (Dave), Heather Hutchinson (Gerry) and son Randy Munro (Elinor Gavin), grandchildren Geoffrey Welsh (Melissa Gettings), Tamara Welsh (Jon Littlefield), Cindy Gilray (Michael) and Bradley Hutchinson, great-grandchildren Mikayla and Ashton Gilray, twin brother Delmer Dreger (Geneva), relatives and friends.

Trudie was born in Wainwright Alberta, grew up in the Edmonton vicinity, she graduated from the University of Alberta Normal School in 1936, and was a school teacher until her marriage in 1942. She resided in Edmonton until 1967, when her family moved to Vancouver. Always a people person, she treasured time spent with her family and friends. She was a loving and dedicated grandmother and great grandmother. Dedicated to her church, volunteered in her community, an avid golfer and bridge player. In 2004, Trudie moved to Pacific Carlton Senior’s Residence in South Surrey where she enjoyed an active time with the wonderful residents and staff.

The family would like to thank all of her friends and the staff at Pacific Carlton who gave her so much support, and the caring nurses and doctors at Peace Arch Hospital.

Memorial Service celebrating Trudie’s life will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Stephen’s United Church, 7025 Granville St., Vancouver. Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice.
