"Chico" Gordon Ronald Begg

Sunrise Nov 27, 1956

Sunset Nov 5, 2006

After a courageous battle with cancer, Gordon went to his creator peacefully with his mother and aunty Gayle at his side at the Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, BC. He flew on the wings of an eagle to join his father Ronald Albert and his sister Rhonda Joy in answer to the call of the creator.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor, mother Gwen (Harry) Gowerluk, Selkirk MB, brother Robert MacDonald (Laurel) sister Colleen MacDonald (Gary) sister Karen Dempsey (Tom), nephew Arthur MacDonald, Theresa, Christopher Dempsey and step father Jake (Jane) MacDonald, Nova Scotia. Numerous aunts and uncles across Canada. Many close friends from coast to coast. The friends in Semiahmoo Indian Reserve became a wonderful family to 'Chico'.

Gordon loved playing sports from the time he was a little boy and right up until he became sick. He also loved to fish, canoe and especially gather Eagle feathers from along the ocean shores.

Gordie loved people, he especially loved visiting with friends and neighbours making them all welcome anytime, day or night.

The family from other provinces will always remember his 2 a.m. phone calls. "Hello, this is Gordon your good looking nephew."

One of Gordie's most endearing qualities was his big wonderful laugh which everyone enjoyed. Gordie was a heavy equipment operator for 31 years. He had worked at many jobs across our wide country always enjoying his co-workers and making many new friends at each new job over the years. When 'Chico' came to live on the Semiahmoo Reserve he felt he had finally come home. He loved his native heritage. His home was filled with art, carvings and pictures of his native culture.

Thank you to all of the friends and neighbours for their help and support. A special thank you to the staff at Peace Arch Hospital, Homecare and especially the Palliative Care Unit.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Funeral Service pending.
