CHAMPION, GORDON FREDERICK

November 19, 1930 - Dec. 12, 2008

Gord passed away peacefully and with grace on the Palliative Care Unit at Peace Arch Hospital with his wife, Barbara Morningstar at his side. He is predeceased by his first wife, Ruth Champion, his young son Brad and sister Doris. Survived by his loving son Steve (Marilyn) Champion and two loving grand daughters Katie and Niky. "They will miss their Grandpa dearly". Also survived by his brother Jim and many relatives and friends. This wonderful, vibrant, gale force wind has now settled. He had a deep love for life and embraced each moment fully and with passion. Gord had many successful business ventures in the earlier part of his life but his commitment to and love for the spiritual teachings of Eckankar were what meant the most to him and defined his purpose in the final stages of his life. He touched many lives on his journey here and was blessed to have friends and family who loved him dearly. All will miss his engaging nature. Many thanks go to the incredible team of Palliative Doctors who worked with him, most specifically Dr. King and Dr. Fluit. His GP of many years, Dr. Glen Anderson, Anesthetists, Dr. Friesen and Dr. Robertson and the many specialists who supported him over the years. A big warm hug of gratitude goes out to all the Palliative Care nurses and care aides for their sensitive care, patience and compassion during his extended and complex stay on the unit. His service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 28th 2008 at 2PM at Valley View Chapel, 14660 - 72nd Ave, Surrey. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favourite charity in Gord's name.
