Hedy L. BURNS

BURNS: Hedy L. born on December 13, 1916 in Brightstone, Manitoba. Reared and educated in Winnipeg, she continued her business studies (Angus College) and music studies (ARCT) after graduating high school from St. Mary's Academy at age 15. While developing a career at Eaton's of Canada, she married Maxwell W. Burns on August 7, 1939.

An active volunteer in the community, she was a founding member of The Winnipeg Teachers Wives Association holding the office of Vice-President. She was also an avid and skillful bridge player.

Having lived in Winnipeg, in Beaverton, Oregon, U.S.A. and in Scottsdale, Arizona, U.S.A., she was a resident of White Rock, B.C. for the past 16 years.

She is survived by her husband, Maxwell Burns, 2 daughters Norma Armstrong and Margaret-Anne DeCorso, 3 granddaughters, 4 great-grandsons and one sister.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, March 10, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. at Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Fir Street, White Rock, the Rev. Fr. Jerrald D'Souza celebrating. Private cremation and interment will be at a later date at Victory Park Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Victory Memorial.
