Hilda Fodchuk

March 27, 2004

Hilda May (nee Henderson), born Vancouver, B.C. May 19, 1923. Loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbour.

Hilda died unexpectedly of heart failure in Vancouver on March 27, 2004.

Predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Tom.

We were all blessed in having Mom in our lives. She did anything for a friend and a friend was anyone who needed her. She worked tirelessly for over 32 years at her store, Hilda's Apparel Ltd, in Richmond, B.C. and her many customers miss her to this day. She devoted herself to providing a better life for her children and sacrificed much over the years.

We'll miss Mom's infamous baked ham, beans and scalloped potatoes dinner; her shortbread, brownies and Yorkshire pudding.

We fondly remember her getting lost in our basement, buying Christmas presents all year long, weeding our garden at 7:30 a.m., our trip to Japan and our many Easter holidays in Saskatoon. She taught us to appreciate beauty in our surroundings, to be creative, generous and kind.

Celebrating Hilda's life are her devoted children Maureen (Kris), Greg (Mari), her precious grandchildren Karina and Michael, her loving sister Phyllis and Jean (Neil), Jim Fodchuk, her sister-in-law Mary, her life long friends, her many nieces and nephews and all her girlfriends at Hilda's and Vanity Lingerie.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Mom's 80th birthday so special and creating so many wonderful memories for her last year with us. "Beauty rare is Hild'a claim, so "Angel" now is her nickname".

A celebration of Hilda's life was held on Thursday, April 8, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Jean and Neil Sweeney's, 4645 Burke Street, Burnaby.
