McLEOD, JACK

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Jack McLeod on Friday April 3, 2009. Jack was a loving and much loved gentle man who will be forever remembered by his sons Brian McLeod (Elizabeth) of Huntington Beach, California, Joe McLeod (Liz) of Langley, daughters Laurie Marcy (Greg) of Grande Prairie, Alberta and Cheryl Phillips (Peter) of South Surrey. Jack also leaves behind his brother Bob McLeod (Marjorie) of Edmonton and sister-in-law Edith McLeod of Dawson Creek. Doting grandfather of Geoff (Wendy), Jennifer (Eric), Sara, Tommy, Jaimie, Danny and Calvin and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Born in Calgary on November 2, 1929 Jack worked and lived in Calgary, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Enderby and called White Rock his home for the last 17 years. He was predeceased in 1992 by his loving wife and our precious mother Luella and has gone to be with her once again. Jack imparted to his children his strong work ethic, his honesty, fairness and integrity, his strong will and determination and his great sense of humour. Jack had a wonderful ability to recall and recount the past. Jack was an avid Vancouver Canucks fan and never missed a game. Jack was a great handyman and loved family, gardening, sports, war history, UFO's, horse races, lotteries, slot machines and fly fishing. Jack's family will be forever grateful to the loving care and compassion of the staff of Peace Arch Hospital, both the 6th floor medical unit and the Palliative Care ward and to the staff of the Langley Hospice Residence. At his request no service will be held. A private celebration of his life will be held at a date to be determined. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canuck Place Children's Hospice.
