SILVIUS, Dr. Jane R. went to be with her God on June 25, 2007 in White Rock, B.C. Born in Summit, N.J. in 1932, Jane was raised in Berkeley, CA. As a mature student and a single mother she obtained her Ph.D. at Northwestern
University in 1972. Having moved to
Edmonton, AB in 1971 Jane went on to establish The Child Development Centre from which she retired in 1988. Moving to White Rock in that year, she took a teaching position at Kwantlen College. Jane was the proud mother and grandmother of son John Robert (Carol) and their daughter Laura; son James (Leslie) and their children Jennifer, Katherine and Robert; and daughter Susan. A Celebration of Jane's life will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Church, 15385 Semiahmoo Avenue, White Rock. A reception will be held at the church following the service. Memorial tributes in memory of Jane may be made to Amnesty International, Vancouver Art Gallery or the White Rock Food Bank. Through her work with children over the years, Jane left this a better world than the one she entered.
