JANET ANDERSON ETCHES
8 Feb 1919 - 2 Sept 2008
Died peacefully with family at her side. She left behind her loving family: sons Duncan (Nora) Robert (Jill) and grandchildren Danielle (Andrew), Jacob (Ayako),Vera, David (Sherie), Fiona & Allison; great grandchildren Cameron, Lucas, Joshua, Nicholas & Megan. Her husband Jim (1995) and grandson Peter (1998) predeceased her.
Janet was born and grew up in Scotland where she trained as a teacher. She married her Canadian Soldier at the end of "the War" and moved to Canada to raise her family in a veterans' settlement in Richmond. She moved to Burnaby when the airport expropriated their house for the new parallel runway and then to White Rock when Jim retired. She moved into Vancouver two years ago to be nearer her family.
Her love of reading and poetry lasted all her life and remain an inspiration to her family. The little packet of energy will not be forgotten.
Thanks to the staff of Sunrise and Drs. Reeves, Chang and Miller for devoted care in the last days of her life.
Rev. Rob Pollock will officiate at her memorial at St. Stephen's United Church 7025, Granville Street Vancouver Saturday, Sept 5 @ 3 PM.
