John (Johnnie)

Passed away peacefully on March 12, 2009 in White Rock after a long illness. Born Dec 13, 1922 at Sorbie County on the Galloway coast in Scotland, eldest son of John & Agnes Marshall. He is survived by his loving wife Lucille, daughter Penny, son Greg (Donna), grandchildren Justin, Tasha, Tyler, nieces Jill, Kathy, nephew Ian Marshall, step brother Willie Marshall (Scotland) sister in-law May Coulter (Bob) and Lucille's children Desmond, Paul, Jennifer, Donna and Lucille's grandchildren who loved John dearly .Predeceased by his wife of 37 years Muriel (nee Taylor), son Jim Marshall, brother Bob,Son in-law Ken and loving niece Laurie Pantages. John served Canada with the Lorne Scots & Saskatoon Light Infantry as a Dispatch rider/machine gunner from 1939-1945 in France, Germany, Italy, and Belgium. He relocated to Vancouver in 1946, working at Four X bakery. He joined his father in law at White & Taylor Ltd selling truck body manufacturing and equipment. From 1975 to retirement in 1986 he worked with Robert's truck and Wilmac. John spent many years enjoying family times at Birch Bay, Loon Lake and traveling to South America, Australia, Great Britain, and Mexico. John had many friends from Legion Branch #16 & # 68 and spent many years golfing with his buddies. He mostly enjoyed being with family and loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events, birthday parties and family dinners. John's kindness towards family and friends will be missed. A service celebrating Johnnie's life will be held on August 26, 2009 at 1:30 pm at the Good Shepherd Church 2250 150 Street, South Surrey, followed by a tea.
