Karl Verhnjak

Karl went peacefully from Peace Arch Hospital on August 9, 2003 to be with his Lord and Saviour. Born December 8, 1943 in Muta, Slovenia. Immigrated to Canada in 1966.

Survived by his loving wife Eileen, two sons David and Rod, two sisters Slava and Vera, two brothers Frank and Ivan. Mother-in-law Domenica, daughters-in-law Charlene and Meranda and five grandchildren, Joyce, Lisa, Andrew, Brandon and sweet Jordana.

Karl with his wife started Verhnjak Pianos in 1974 and moved the piano rebuilding business to White Rock in 1985. He was an important member of the Vancouver music scene serving as a concert tuner technician for many years. He served as president and vice-president of the Piano Technician Guild for numerous years. His son and business partner Rod joined him in 1988 and will continue in his father's footsteps.

Karl loved and served the Lord with all his heart and lived his life reflecting his religious convictions. He loved life and his family. Karl fought his illness for seven years. His passion was spending time with his beloved family, he enjoyed taking his grandchildren for ice cream, walking the White Rock promenade, playing his trumpet and working on his computer. Karl was respected and loved by those who knew him.

A memorial service was held at Peace Arch Fellowship, 3487 King George Hwy. on Thursday, August 14, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. Viewing prior to funeral service from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Peace Arch Hospital.
